The First Wives Club, while being an amusing flick, should not and can not be compared to the novel of the same name. As a matter of fact, some of the problems many people have with the film virtually disappear in the novel. Annie Paradise, played by Diane Keaton, is far more annoying on screen than on page.
As a 33 year old white gay man, I heard there was a "The First Wives Club" tv show remake and no matter what I had to see what this was all about. I signed up for the BET+ streaming service, just to watch the show. Its worth it! Great characters, and great concept! They took the original idea and made it their own!
As the plot develops it turns that each of their husbands is ditching them for a younger girl/woman. They form the "First Wives Club" to plot exquisite revenge against their philandering husbands.
